Nov. 2010 - Jan. 2011 I was blessed by "The Bible in 90 Days". I did actually buy a copy of the Bible set up for this, just to make it easier on myself.

Before that I had read every book of the Bible. Some more than once. Bits and pieces repeatedly. Favorite parts without ceasing. This was the first time from Genesis to Revelation. It was an amazing experience for me to get a different picture of God's Word. Sort of put the pieces together.

One amazing piece is the many times what was in the assigned 12 pages for the day was exactly what I needed to hear from God that day... didn't matter if I was deep in the midst of Mosaic law, walking through the Psalms, listening to Minor Prophets, hearing Jesus' voice in the Gospels, being taught along with the early church through the letters of Paul... God met me there. Talked to me there. Encouraged me, comforted me, convicted me... whatever I needed to hear that day.

God is so good that way.

Superb idea! I will join the club. My prayer focus will be for those who are walking/running and praying.

I love that! I, too, am trying to work on wellness, while also increase my prayer life and I think being intentional with our prayer and devotional life is so important. What an awesome idea! Totally gonna start doing that! :-) Who needs a walking partner when you have God right beside you! Thanks Bekah and Sue!

It's been so fun and such a blessing and I've only done it twice. I used to try praying and running a lot, but often found distracted. Between having the list right there on my hand, and the school building in view, it helps a lot!

I was talking yesterday with another DCE friend who may start doing something similar as well. It also just helps get me out of bed to run on those days when I'd rather just sleep an extra 45 minutes. :) Not to mention, I'm new to NY and it's an awesome way to try to figure out my way around the area.

As Sue said... win. win. win!

I love the image of the Trinity as a deep sea. Conveys vastness, diversity, ancientness, and something that can not be exhausted.

Rather than be frightened or turned off, Catherine suggests that we seek even more deeply the more we discover. Wow!

More talks about "a taste of the Holy Spirit." While I am all for "a taste of the Holy Spirit," anyone care to suggest what we are tasting?

Is it the wind? Or a conviction of our sin? Or a joy that passes all understanding? Or something more tangible like bread and wine? Or a deeply satisfying act of serving in Jesus' Name?

Help me out here...Karp

And here I thought I had invented this idea! :) Guess not if someone else has named it "batching" and written a blog about it!

I often do this at home... especially when the house feels out of control. Sometimes I will get my whole family (hubby, 9 year old, 4 year old and me!) in on it. "Okay, I am setting the timer for 20 minute and we are all going to work as hard as we can to get our home cleaned up. Then we'll do something fun together." Works great! Also teaches my kids to work together, help each other out, be a servant for our family.

Sue... I echo Les' sentiments. I look forward to the Saturday ritual. Plus, there are so many rich and uplifting prayer from the ages that you will never run out of the saints speaking for us even today. Karp

Great thoughts! I like # 2: Get mad, then get over it. Sort of a don't let the sun go down on your anger thought. Or, get angry but do not sin. I also see Mary Englebreit's character Anne Estelle looking out from under her wide brimmed hat and saying, "Snap out of it!" I am also strongly drawn to #3. Don't let your identity be tied up in what you "do." Draw your identity form what you "be." Not great English but the right thought. It also flows along the lines of something I have said often over the years to professional workers in the church. Don't let you faith become the same as your call. While certainly related, they are not one and the same. You could go Plant Corn and your faith could remain as strong, vibrant, valid (pick your own word) as it was when you Preached Christ. If we cannot see the separation between faith and call, we can begin to have difficulty seeing the faith of non-called people as being as valid, strong, important (again, pick your own word) as the faith of those who have the call to professional service in the church. And then we wonder why those we call laity are sometimes not willing to step up. Thanks to Colin Powell for developing this list and thanks to you, Sue, for passing it on. Peace and Jo, Les

Sue--I really like the addition of the Saturday prayer. On a day when there are lots of things to do beyond the work schedule and other people tugging for time and attention and the mindset of "tomorrow is Sunday," the brief pause to read the Saturday Morning Post is a wonderful moment. Thanks! Peace and Joy, Les
